How does image compression work?

The tool re-encodes your image with an optimised quality setting and strips unnecessary metadata (such as camera EXIF data). For JPG and WebP you can fine-tune the quality level; PNG files are losslessly re-compressed. You can also resize large images to a maximum dimension for even greater savings.

Uploads are validated, processed and then automatically deleted from our server within the hour. Your original metadata is removed during compression, so nothing private travels with your image.
